September 17th - Wednesday
Rini really didn't mean to make it so that no one else could sit at her table. That was just a plus. Back in the corner in the transfiguration section was where Rini set up most nights. She nearly covered the whole table with books while she hunkered down to work on homework and her other studies. Weekdays, weekends, this was her favourite pasttime.
Having just finished a three foot essay on shapeshifters in history, Rini was about to pick up one of her other assignments when she thought about her own quest to shift her shape. She had no idea what she would be yet, but her and her Transfiguration professor had been working extensively on her becoming an animagus. She had been working on it her whole life and she was getting close. Sitting cross-legged in the creaky old chair, Rini pushed the sleeve of her sweater up, concentrating and watching as long black fur started appearing, slowly, on her arm.

Way too many books. Dear god. Keahi was going to drown in a sea of paper cutting painful doom. Did he look like crap? That was because he was stressing. And to make matters worse....Well, matters couldn't be worse. He had long since smudged all the eyeliner he was wearing by rubbing his tired eyes. He looked like a japanese racoon. Nice. And now he had more homework to do! Yippee! Finding a spot to sit in the - -
"That is seriously disturbing."

The fur was long and slightly wirey, though it was pretty soft to the touch. It started at her hand and was slowly crawling its way up her arm, covering every bit of her old ski-
Eep!
She jumped and the fur dissapeared instantly.
She took a breath, calming down. It was just Keahi.
"Shh."

That was weird. Disgusting. And cool. But weird. He shook his head, readjusting his book pile.
"Make room."

She quickly started moving her piles so that he could set his things down. Most of her books didn't mind sharing the space. Her pink notebook was over here by her.
"What is all that?"
As if she had room to talk.

He dropped his pile of non living books on the table. It made a quite audible thud.
"This. Is my homework."
Could she hear the disdain? He was dripping with it as he sat.

She jumped at the loud sound and frowned at the mistreatment of his books.
"It's your fault for not doing it and they don't like being dropped like that."

"Then they should do the homework themselves." He groaned, pushing the front of his hair back. "If I didn't need these classes..."

She rolled her eyes and looked back down at her arm. The fur started to grow very slowly again, starting at her fingers.
She didn't look up at him as she spoke. She had to concentrate.
"You'd what?"

He watched, obviously not wanting to do his work.
"I don't know. Allow myself to fail without worrying."

The fur started crawling higher up her arm.
"Then why would you even be here?"

She shrugged a little, watching the fur start to dissapear.

"I am." He sighed, opening a book and getting his writing supplies out.

The fur was completely gone and she picked up her pink notebook, opening it to the first page. Reaching forward she picked up one of her books and asked it nicely to open to page 107, it did so.
She was about to get started on some homework again, when something else slipped into her mind. She glanced up at her cousin and opened her mouth.
She shut again.
One more time and she finally spoke up.
"Keahi? Are you taking arithmancy?"
