Today wasn't unlike every other day. Denise spent time with her friends for a while, laughing and joking, before finally telling them she had places to be and waved her good byes. She worked on a little homework. Ate a little lunch. Then decided she wanted a nice hot drink. Chai tea, to be precise.
And where would she find such a delicious drink? Why the same cafe she'd been to not too long ago. The one that coincidentally had one of the cutest workers she'd ever seen. Judas, by name. Not that that's why she went there. No. She was there for tea. He just so happened to be a perfect reason to push her to the point of going, though. A little perk.
Either way, she hoped he was working. Otherwise the tea just wouldn't be as good. She made her way in, a smile on her face. A little bit of anticipation making her heart race. She just needed to know if he was there.

Judas had pulled a thigh muscle while throwing out his knee during a rugby match. While wrapping his knee, his cellular had rung and he had regretted getting one when he saw the name on his caller I.D. Gina. He knew what she wanted, but he couldn't not answer, because Gina had always been there when he needed shifts covered at work, and would do it even if he called two minutes before he needed to be there, as had happened on more occasions than he would like to admit. He slid his phone open and put it up to his ear.
"You're lucky I have one of these."
"So are you, I have a shift in forty minutes and my daughter just threw up on me."
"Got it, love," he said, tightening the bandage and charming an adhesive to keep it together. "You'll owe me biscuits, of course." And he hung up and tossed his phone into his duffel bag, switching out his jersey for a t-shirt and rushed off to his flat to shower and get into his "uniform."
Judas hobbled into the joint about two and a half seconds late, and waved to his boss who just smiled. With such hard-working and lovely employees, you hardly cared when they showed up a bit late. They usually stayed later and often came in early, anyway.
As soon as he turned the corner, still tying his half-apron around his hips, he instantly no longer hated the fact that he had been called in. He smiled at the girl at his first table. "Hello, beautiful." He didn't pull out his order pad, as he hardly ever used it anyway. "Chai tea and a scone, right?"

Denise was glad she'd thought to bring a book. Anything to make it seem less like she was going there for the reason she was. She had to read up on the subject (Famous wizarding wars) anyhow, so what would be a better time than now? When she was waiting for a pretty man to serve her delicious tea. Or at least show up. He wasn't there when she arrived. At least not where she could see.
She almost made a face, pulling out her book, a disappointed one. But she didn't. It's not like she'd said she was coming. Or that he'd care. Oh well. She'd read. And then he spoke. And she brightened up incredibly. Though on the inside...
"Hey." Beautiful. He'd called her beautiful. Ugh. So worth the trip just for what. "Exactly right."
The scone wasn't necessary. But she'd take it. The fact that he remembered was wonderful in itself.

Judas winked at her and turned off to go to the counter. He was trying not to limp, and doing something of a good job of it, only occasionally losing the strength in his walk. But bloody hell did it hurt... He leaned against the counter as he put in the order, shooting pains in his knee and a harsh throb in his thigh. He grimaced and tapped his finger hard against the counter top. When her order game, it was like the second coming of Christ. He snatched it up and managed to make his way to her table, setting the plate and cup down carefully. None of the other tables needed anything. Good.
"Mind if I take a seat, love?" he asked, but didn't wait for a reply before he dropped down into the seat across from her and swung his right leg onto the place beside her with a groan. "Thanks," he added with a sheepish smile.

She watched him off, melting only a little bit on the inside at the wink. God that man was gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Denise sighed, looking down at her book for a moment before closing it to just wait. If it was open he might think she doesn't want to talk to him. Far from the truth.
When he came back she threw him a smile. About to thank him when he asked to sit down. And about to say yes when he took the seat and brought his leg up. After a moment of surprise she frowned a bit.
"Are you alright?" She expected a lie. Some sort of 'I'm fine' like everyone said when they weren't.

Judas wasn't one for lying. Ironic, huh? He rubbed his hand back and forth over his thigh and shook his head, laughing at himself a little bit. "Bad luck," he explained. "My knee gave out during a rugby match, took my sartorius with it. Right before I got the call to cover this shift."
He smiled, looking at the book at the end of the table. "Famous wizard wars?" he raised an eyebrow. "Do you read about anything else?"

She was really glad he hadn't gone with the obvious answer. The one that was obviously a lie. "Sounds awful. I hope it doesn't hurt too bad." That just sounded like hell. Having to work when you hurt. She was extremely glad she didn't have to do anything like that. Well, on occasion she did. But that was because Sterling was a tyrant.
Her eyes moved down to the book and she chuckled a little, nodding. "Yeah. I read the newspaper. Sometimes there's gossip in there. Not just facts."

"It is," Judas said, leaning back in the seat. He had an eye on the rest of his tables. Most of them were empty, but the few that actually had customers had very content, not thirsty looking customers at them. "Should've stayed off it for a day or so, maybe gotten it looked at. Don't know a damn thing about healing magick m'self." He shrugged. He'd survive. It was the first rugby injury, and it wouldn't be the last.
"No novels or anything?" he slid the book over to himself and opened it, flipping through the pages. He missed learning, but not school. He didn't need school, that's why he had dropped out. He wasn't an.. Institution kind of guy. More like sex, philosophy, and rock and roll.

"And then you got called in." She shook her head, completely sympathetic. The idea of literal calling in wasn't weird to her. Muggle parents and all. But it did occur to her that he'd said it. Not that it was important. "I have some friends who are into the whole medical thing. I'm not. Sorry I can't really help."
Back to the other topic at hand. She smiled a little. "Well, yes. But not that often anymore. With school work and everything. Books like this one just so happen to work for school and entertainment."

He was sure she could help in her own way. He smiled, and didn't say it out loud, just shut the book of hers and slid it back to it's place on the table. "So you read text books for fun?" he shook his head, smirking. "We need to get you out more often, love, farther out than a ruddy little cafe."

"Believe me. I get out. But probably not far enough." She nodded to the cafe comment, smiling. He was just too cute. Denise was glad she didn't get flustered around men. Otherwise this situation wouldn't have worked so well. "And where exactly is far enough away?"

"I was thinking far enough away might be to a show," he said with a shrug, smooth like velvet, he was. Or at least he was telling himself that. Maybe if there wasn't a teeth-clenching pain in his leg he would be. "Maybe a poetry reading if that's more your thing." He smiled, looking at her. She was gorgeous, she liked history. There were a lot of other things he liked, and he wanted to find out even more about her.

"A show would be nice. Or poetry." She smiled at him, trying to add a little more charm to it. Not overly flirtatious, but definitely not platonic. She didn't want him thinking she was only in it to be friends. That was counter productive. And she wanted the product, damnit. Why would she want to ruin her chances with gorgeous, sports playing (apparently), sweet man here? "I'm game for either."

"Unfortunately, I can't go anywhere really tonight," he said motioning through the table to his injured leg. "Especially not a show... to much moving around, and all the standin'. Or else I'd be game for taking you out tonight." He smiled. "I'll probably just go home and writhe in pain for a few hours."

"That sounds...Completely awful. Writhing around in pain." She shook her head, moving her hands to play with her untouched scone. She would have loved to go to a show...
"Alone?" She was hinting. Yes. No, she wasn't going to outright offer to come over. If he wanted her to, he could ask. If not then the answer was yes.
