So guess what, Alexander was in town and Erin was in a very good mood. He showed up that morning and surprised her while her and Aqui were having their usual breakfast. Of course it was only her that was shocked. Aqui always saw it coming. She really didn't care, though, he was there for the weekend and she was going to his game on Saturday.
Since having lunch with her brother Erin had been busy with classes. She knew he would be spending the rest of the night with Aqui and she needed to finish up a lot of work before tomorrow. She was finishing her last class of the night now.
"We'll discuss it more next week. Remember, I need those essays on my desk before class."
Erin dismissed the class and relaxed onto her knees. She had been leaning up on the planter box in the center of the room, explaining and showing the class one of the larger plants. As they left she brushed a bit of hair that had fallen loose from the messy bun on the back of her head out of her face, leaving a smudge of dirt behind. After taking a break she leaned back up to take care of a few more things.

Aldrick took far too many Herbology classes. Divination too, but those were rather predictable. He enjoyed his Herbology classes more. There were a lot of ideas running around his head that had to do with plants. A lot to do with cross breeding. Which probably sounded a little strange, giving he didn't care much for it in humans. The purer the breed of the human the better. But there were too many plants he wanted to create. Taking normal well known plants and giving them dangerous traits was something he'd always wanted to do. And done once or twice in his life. They hadn't lived as long as he'd hope. None to fruition. But that was okay. He knew he could do it.
He spent too much time with these ideas. When he wasn't working on homework or Olivia he generally was doing something with plants.
Namely the dangerous and or poisonous kind. They were just the favorite. Hands down.
As for now he needed a little help, which he was reluctant to admit. Aldrick didn't need help. ever. He was just...a little stuck.
No, he didn't have Professor Suzuki's last class, but he knew when it was. And he knew she'd be there. Like she always was. He gave a slightly frustrated sigh as he walked through the door to her room.
"Professor, I need your help with something."
Disgusting words.

Disgusting words she had heard before.
Erin was actually very interested in Aldrick's cross-breeding ideas. He was one of her best students and she couldn't help but be a little baised towards students who were majouring in her subject. It wasn't her fault. Plants were her life and when one her students displayed that same sort of passion she wanted to help them as much as she could. Aldrick was definitely one of those students.
Leaning up a bit more she attempted to peak up at him over the plant that was starting to grow much larger than her. She could... sort of see him.
"Aldrick?"

"I need your help."
Yes. Of course it was him. How many dreaded Germans were running around this school?
He gave a bit of a sigh, walking to a space where she's have a better view of him. And him of her. It would be a bit easier to talk when they could see eachother.
"I'm trying to find the right plant to crossbreed with hybrid tea roses."
If she knew him at all she'd know he meant poisonous plants.
"Something that won't wilt quickly."

Ah. There he was. And as for dreaded Germans? Just one.
Erin slipped off the ledge, wiping her dirty hands on her jeans and walking around to where he was. She listened for a moment as she moved around, thinking as she walked.
"Have tried anything already?"
She always knew that was what Aldrick was after. Lucky him she had quite a few.

He sighed before he started listing a few.
"Aconite. Anemone. Belladonna."
Aldrick sat on one of the tables in the room. Not moving far from his initial spot. This was all quite annoying.
"For some reason I cannot get past the first one."

This should have been an odd conversation, but it had happened before. Every so often Aldrick showed up with some new and fantastic idea and she found herself getting sucked in.
She stopped, leaning against one of the planter boxes across from him already thinking. Anyone who knew Erin at all would be able to see the wheels turning behind her eyes.
"What are you trying to get from the cross-breeding?"

He couldn't help it. It's the way his mind worked. Besides. She fueled the fire. He would probably give up on half the endeavors if she didn't help him with the minor problems. They didn't always happen. But they did happen on occasion
"To be blunt. Something pretty, poisonous, and long lasting."
Of course he saw the wheels turning. That's why he came to her.

"Hellebore."
Aqui would have been appalled. Aldrick came to her, asking for advice on something that always had the potential to be dangerous and... well, she couldn't help it. He pitched the idea and got the wheels turning, then she got an idea and it always went from there.
This time was no different.
"I brushed over it a bit last quarter but nothing in depth. Black Hellebore might be exactly what you need."

"A buttercup?"
He paused, thinking it over.
"Why didn't I think of that?"
It wasn't the most gorgeous flower, but it was cute. Mixed with a rose it might be a very pretty flower. Poisonous too. Perennial. All in all it was a good idea. He just hoped it worked. Maybe he could get black roses out of it too. That would be nice.

She smiled, positively glowing at the idea that he knew what she was talking about. She wasn't done there though.
"But you need to get the right kind."
She pushed herself up, already walking her short self towards the door. He would follow if he knew her at all.
"You need to be careful and watch out for the White Hellebore. One way you have a cure, one way you have a poison. The syrup of the White Hellebore is used in the Draught of Peace."
She assumed he knew all about that. She tended to.
Outside.
"But the Black Hellebore, excluding the root of course, has the opposite effect. Yes, it can be used in cures if you do it right but in the end you're looking at vertigo, insanity and ultimately suffocation and your heart stopping."
She could have gone through her living space to get to the greenhouse in the back but that would have been... innappropriate. Around back, she paused to disarm the spell on the door and stepping inside. Aldrick should feel special. He was getting to see something very rare. This was where Erin kept her more... dangeorus and poisonous plants. The students were very rarely allowd inside, but she was stuck in her mind. She had very good feelings about this plant.

He watched her for a bit before finally moving. Of course he knew the difference. Every so often he gave a bit of an 'I know.' He knew to follow. There was no point not to. Otherwise he would have just been in the room alone. And that wasn't helpful at all.
And he may have felt special. But no. That would have made the world explode. Aldrick wasn't allowed to feel more special than he already did. He was practically king of the fucking universe.
He followed her into the room, looking around at everything. Off the top of his head he could name a good number of the plants already. Some of them he hadn't seen up close, however. But he did have a few of them at home.

Well, she supposed this would just stroke his ego a bit more.
Of course she heard his acknowledgements behind her but that wouldn't stop her. Once you got her going that was it. For a while she continued to rant about the different breeds, different looks and which would work with what he was doing until she stopped in front of one of the planter pots.
"However... the breed you need isn't quite ready."
She looked up at him.

He enjoyed having his ego stroked.
After a bit of rambling he spaced. Only a little. Looking at the plants. He sort of lost himself. Until something she said caught his attention. And his eyes snapped back to looking at her.
"Isn't quite ready?"

She nodded, still looking up at him. He was much taller than her.
"It isn't finished growing."
She paused, trying to think of a better way to put it.
"It's... new."
