*She doesn't want him back in her life* *It means that part of her life exists* *That she used to have a family* *And she used to know his family* *And his sister...*
*She continues staring at her feet for a bit* *Before looking up* *Watching him him* *After a moment she holds out the box with his wand in it*

For the most part J.L. didn't remember everything his family put him through. He'd blocked it all out. But it didn't change how they made him. The lessons his sister had taught him. The screaming in his mind that said he didn't want to be like any of them.
Then there was Cerys.
Handing him his wand. It took a second before he brought his hand out, taking the box from her. Barely brushing his fingers against hers.

*His fingers brush hers and her heart starts thumping harder again* *Again she's reminded that this isn't a ghost or memory sitting next to her* *This isn't a dream*
"I fixed all the nicks and scrapes and gave it a good polish."
*No, she didn't make wands when she knew him* *This is new*

Being near Cerys just reminds him of all the times he spent with her. Just how he felt when she was around. His mind wouldn't let him think of the rest. Not right now. Hopefully not ever.
Cerys was someone he'd always liked. She was never mean to him. Not intentionally. Yes, there was a time or two where something his sister had told her to do had affected him. But Cerys never hurt him. He'd always wanted her to be around. She made things better. Eventually he'd started to. . .
It didn't matter.
"That's cool."
Heh.
"When did you learn to do that>:

*She would never, EVER hurt Jacob* *He was so sweet and innocent* *Stuck in a world he didn't deserve* *He was just born into it* *She tried as hard as she could to keep Alexis from being mean to him* *She always offered to babysit* *And either way Alexis dragged her over to her house* *But she couldn't be there all the time* *It just wasn't fair* *She didn't care what she did to her as long as she could make her leave him alone*
*She finds herself smiling a little* *Always proud of her wand work* *She leans over to open the box* *Carefully taking the wand out to show it to him*
"I learned while I was living with my Grandmother."
*She refrains from finishing that statement* *"after my parents died"*
*She looks over the wand lovingly.*
"She taught me everything I know.

She was always good to him.
He watched her, smiling a bit himself at how proud she looks. Obviously she's good at what she does. It shows. His wand looks nothing like it did when he brought it to her. It looks like new.
"That's cool."
She didn't have to say the words.
"So is it just you at the shop?"

*Glances up at him* *Smiling softly* *She can't remember the last time she smiled like this* *Like there's no worries in the world* *No secrets*
*She carefully sets it back in the box* *Closing it* *All in his hand*
*Shrugs a little* *Pulling her cloak back around herself* *It's getting a little chillier* *Especially on the stone step*
"I know the family who owns the candy store downstairs. They let me have my shoppe and..."
*Though she doesn't like to admit it...*
"Let rent slide a little when I can't quite make it."

He can't remember the last time he really smiled either. Maybe it was talking with Bronwen. Well, flirting with Bronwen. He liked her, a lot. But it didn't feel like it felt right now. Being with Cerys.
Cerys was like home. Everything good about it. He didn't have to pretend or hide things. He was just himself. Any part of him he actually wanted to be. And she accepted the parts he didn't.
He noted the cold.
"That's nice of them."
Heh. Smiles a bit.
"I'm glad you're doing alright."
J.L. Sat there for a moment, considering his words.
"Would you mind coming to my dorm with me?" It sounded bad. But it wasn't. "It's warmer there. And I need to get some more money to pay you with."

*Just like she loves everyone in the Jenkins family* *Not like he likes Bronwen but still* *They are the most important people in her life right now* *But she still has to guard herself from them* *Even if it's unconscious anymore* *This is different* *This is Jacob*
*Looks back up at him* *Nods* *And smiles, just as genuinely* *Looking him straight in the eye*
"I am."
*And she should be more grateful for the life she has*
*When he sits, she glances back down* *Pulling her cloak closer* *Until he speaks again*
*Glances up* *For some reason not as worried about his word choice as she should be* *As for money?* *She had completely forgotten*
"Oh!"
*Heh*
"Sure."

Her smile made him feel so much better than anything else had in a long time. That someone who had been through so much could smile like that...it was a very hopeful thing.
Heh. He was glad that she hadn't found his words odd.
He nodded.
"Okay."
Alright, he stood, holding a hand out for her.
"It's probably easier to apparate."

*She watches him stand* *Noting, again, just how tall he is* *She glances at his hand* *And then takes it* *Letting him help her up* *Her stomach flips* *And she has no idea why that simple act of helping her stand made her feel so much* *Jacob helped her up* *And now she's standing so close to him* *All grown up* *She needs to remember to breathe*
*Heh* *Nods* *That's all she can do*

She was close. Very close. And it reminded him of everything he used to think of her. Everything he wasn't sure he'd stopped thinking of her.
He needed to say something.
"Alright. It's a mess, just so you know."
. . .
He moved his arm out to pull her close to him. For apparating purposes alone, he swears. And, a second later, they arrived right outside his dorm.

*It's just so different* *She's used to the Jacob she held close and tried to protect* *Now he's so big and strong* *And moving closer?*
*His arm moves around her* *And she feels her body move up against his* *It's so overwhelming she hardly hears what he has to say* *And then they zip away*
*Outside his room, she takes a moment to steady herself* *It's okay, though, he's holding her*

This was everything he wanted when he was younger. To be with someone like Cerys, in a place that he felt safe in, feeling like he could be himself. It was strange. And he hadn't quite come to terms with everything.
He waited as long as he could before finally letting go of Cerys. To make sure she was alright. And because he didn't want to let go....
"It's a little bit of a mess." A nod, and he turned to open the door, stepping in.
The set up was like most of the other dorms. Split down the middle. J.L's things on one side, his room mates on the other. His room mate's side was messier than his own. There was a nearly full clothes hamper hidden away behind his bed. His desk was covered in papers. But other than that it wasn't too bad. There were a few pictures on the desk, amongst all the papers. A few books as well. His bed was made, not extremely well, and covered in pillows of assorted sizes. As well as a few too many blankets.

*She has to fight the urge to lay her head against him* *She's never felt so comfortable in a man's arms* *Man's...? Jacob is a man now...*
*When he speaks she glances up* *Blinking at how close they are* *She steps back, though, letting him move into his room*
*Smiles*
"So I've heard."
*She walks in after him* *Glancing around at where he lives now* *In College* *She walks in* *Over to his nightstand* *And runs her hand over it lightly, peeking at the pictures.*
