Lettie had friends. She did, really. They just didn't share the same lunch as her. Not that she really minded a lot. It gave her time to do her homework. And write letters when she needed to.
Apparently her brother was having a rough time in school right now. And he sent atleast two letters a day. She was sure it would be over with by the time the week was out. It was only tuesday. He did that. Every so often. It would be fine.
She sighed, pulling her hair back into a ponytail as she set down into her work. Just an essay for now. Charms work wasn't too hard. There were some things she could just do. Charms was one of those things. It interested her. What you could do with charms. Almost anything was possible. She liked that. Especially when you come from a world with limits. To have that boundary pushed was exciting.
A few lines in, she reached over to grab her glass. Just water. She was kickin' that way.

Douglas had friends, a lot of them. Just because he didn't always stick with them didn't mean anything. And besides, it was mostly just the girls. He had a few guys friends he went out with and there was always the quidditch team. No, Douglas was fine.
And as for his brother? He was older than him. Why would he be sending him letters?
Grabbing a bit of lunch ahead of a pair of sweet little freshman girls, the best chaser on the quidditch team, if he did say so himself, headed off to find a spot to sit. It was always possibly he would head back to the two but for now he was going to scan a bit.
This was just how Douglas was. Things like classes and lunch weren't just for learning and eating, they were oppurtunities. As far as he was concerned meeting people was his main concern, and meeting girls was at the very top of the list. Reaching up he raked his finger through his prized head of hair. Martina wasn't around -his main persuit- and no one really seemed all that interesting. Maybe he would head back to the-
...Hm.
Turning on his usual charming grin, he headed over, stopping in front of Lettie's table.
"Hey, I hate eating alone. Do you mind?"

Lettie was rather close with her brother. As close as siblings could be, she supposes. They hadn't gotten along as well as they do now for a little while. But it sort of changed when her brother started going to Hogwarts as well. They had something in common again. So they were able to become closer.
Setting her water down, she got back to her essay. The confundus charms main purpose is to--
"Huh?" She glanced up from her paper, saying the most intelligent thing in her head. She hadn't expected anyone to come to her table. Especially not someone so...charming? Maybe. He was undoubtedly attractive, that was sure. And he wanted to sit at her table.
"Oh. Sure, I guess. Go ahead."
He wasn't going to help her get her work done, that was for sure. If anything he was going to impede her work....She should have said no. But...he was nice to look at. She should probably get back to work.

He was good to look at. He knew it and he knew he wasn't just being arrogant. Kim could shut his mouth. Lettie wasn't so bad to look at either. Actually she looked very good. The casual, not caring thing? Actually very hot. He picked a good table.
Douglas sat down across from her, his lunch on the table.
"Thanks. I'm not sure where all my friends ran off to."
A lie. He knew none of them were here.

She may have cared. That was just how her face looked. People needed to get used to that, she supposed. The point is. He was attractive, and she recognized that. But that doesn't mean she was going to do anything about it.
Turning her eyes back at her work, she acknowledged him with a slight nod.
"That sucks."
Unfortunately she needed to get the damn paper done. Plus, guys were just a distraction from, well, everything. She didn't really need that.

Disctraction? Actually, yes, Douglas had mastered the art of distraction. He could even be subtle about it. Point was, he fully intended on her paying more attention to him then her homework.
He glanced, nonchalantly down at his food as he took a bite. He swallowed, not even looking back up at her.
"So why's a pretty girl like you sitting all alone?"
It would have sounded cliche and sleazy if he had been looking at her, giving that 'smoldering look at me' face. Instead he waited for another bite to glance up at her if he hadn't said anything strange.

Conceited.
There wasn't really a response, so she assumed the conversation was over. Maybe he'd just let her do her work. That would be nice. If she got it done she wouldn't have to do anything tonight. Just laze around and have fun. She looked up again.
"Huh?" Second times a charm. She was full of intelligent responses. If he just waited she was sure he'd get more.
"Oh. My friends are in class." She shrugged a bit. It didn't sound cliche or sleazy. He was good at that, apparently. He really was quite attractive. Not that it mattered.

Very. But he knew he could back it up.
Having drawn her in, he caught her eyes with his, throwing her another charming grin.
"Their loss."
He took a bite of food, eyes never leaving hers.

"I guess."
Ahem. While, yes, he had a very mesmerizing gaze, she had to look away. To get her water. Maybe she didn't. Maybe he wasn't going to let her. But she was still going to grab her wa-
"Oh fuck!"
She made a slight groaning sound as her glass hit the table, the contents spilling onto her bag. Immediately she started moving things out of the way of the water. Luckily it had just missed her papers.
"Just great."
She sighed, moving things so she could pull her wand out of her bag.

Over the table, into her bag, and splashing him and his food. He frowned, breaking character for just a moment. Well, he guessed he would be eating that bread then.
Shaking it off, he leaned forward, pulling out his own wand to dry off her things.
"Hey, that's why we can do magic, remember?"

Ugh. This was fantastic.
She glanced up when he pulled out his own wand, giving him a sort of thankful smile for the help.
"Yeah. Just in case we spill things."
Lettie then made a bit of a face. The realization sinking in. It was the sort of face that says 'Ugh, I just did something ridiculously stupid and got caught doing it.'
"Sorry about that."
She sighed, pulling her bag up into her lap.

No, he was not happy about water splashing on him, however a small amount it really was, but he was going to pretend for the sake of a pretty girl.
He shook his head.
"It's fine. Everything alright in there?"
He was done with his food. It was wet and no amount of magic would change that. Oh well. He would just have to watch her check her bag.

After a few seconds of drying things she nodded.
"Yeah. For the most part anyways. Nothing that can't be fixed."
She sighed again, setting her bag to the side. Really glad that her papers hadn't been ruined. That would have ruined her day.
"Sorry about your food. I guess I don't know my own strength. Or something."

He supposed he would take the apology.
Outloud he chuckled a bit, running his fingers through his hair again and shaking his head.
"It's fine, you'll just pay me back later."
Nonchalant, again, as if nothing at all sounded odd.

She paused for a second, before pulling an apple out of her bag and holding it out for him.
"For ruining your food."
She wasn't going to eat it anyways. It was just in there because her room mate told her to take a snack today. Weird Divination majors.
