Muggle Studies wasn't a particularly strenuous subject to take on as a Majour. But there was a lot more to it that just appliances and electricity. There was law and history as well. Cultural habits. So much extra information they didn't go over in Secondary school. True, many students didn't need it. Being muggle born, or part muggle. Sheena, however, was hardly either. While, yes, her parents had Muggle blood in them it was drawn out. And they'd always always lived in the Magical community. Visiting a muggle area was like a holiday or field trip. Just not something she did often. But they'd always fascinated her. That was why she was studying them. That was why she was on her way back to the library. To return and pick up some new books. Textbooks and reference.
It wasn't too late in the day, but it was still a little dark. The past week or so had been rather wet and cloudy. Not at all weather for high heels. Or shoes with no traction. But she wore them anyhow on the slick stairs leading down from Ketteridge Hall. That was her downfall, no pun intended. One of her feet slid from under her about half way down the stairs. Luckily she caught herself, grabbing onto the railing, before she hurt herself.
"Oh, fuck!"
A few, not all, of her books fell directly into the puddle in front of the stairs, having been lost in the attempt to grab the rail.

Brin wasn't a muggleborn. Both of his parents were in fact magical. What the rest of his family was he really had no idea. There were scatterings, he would just put it that way. Either way there was enough magic in them that him and his brother and sister had been born that way too. On that note they did not live completely in the magic community but in a muggle neighborhood. They had been short on money and when Brin's grandfather died they moved into the house that he had built. Brin wasn't sure yet if it was a good or a bad thing.
He didn't have to take any muggle studies classes though. That was a plus. Getting himself into a bad crowd and muggle drugs? Not so much.
Brin had actually just been coming back from the library. He liked to work on homework where he could get to any of the books he needed. It also meant a much lighter load on the way back. Lit cigarette in hand for the walk, he was glad to see that the rain had subsided. The rain of books, though, he wasn't expecting. He stopped in front of the puddle and glanced down at the books, taking a drag from his cigarette.
"That's bad for those you know."

"Really?"
She sighed, not exactly amused by the comment, but preoccupied by her shoe that had tried to come off. She bent down a bit to fix it, her skirt hiking up a little ways. Shoe completely on again, she carefully made her way down the stairs, leaning down to pick up the few that hadn't gone too far. Finally looking up at him she smiled a bit. Mostly to herself.
"For some reason I thought they'd like a nice swim."
He was rather cute, she'd admit. That may have been why he didn't get his face bitten off for interjecting. Maybe.

He had long since looked up from the books in the puddle to the much more interesting girl on the stairs. He most definitely looked when she bent over and he liked what he saw.
But back to the matter at hand.
He smiled back, wether it was for him or not, taking another drag from the cigarette. He let it out as he spoke.
"That's a common misconception."
He dropped the butt on the ground and stamped it out before pulling out his wand to lift the books out of the puddle and dry them off. One more flick sent them into a neat pile in his arms.

She aimed to please, or something like that. Look pleasing at the very least.
Sheena tried constantly not to do the witch thing and not use her wand. So far it had been working well. Sometimes she even forgot she had a wand, though she always had it with her. She was glad, though, that someone was using their brain. And wand.
Cute smile.
"I don't know why, they just looked a little dry to me."
The other books she had picked up seemed fine. Not too wet. She made her way to the bottom of the stairs, standing in front of him. Letting her smile be a little more for him.

Brin was pretty used to using his wand, (No pun intended ^ ~) though he could easily live like a muggle too. In this case trying to air dry the books didn't seem like a good idea, though. He waited at the bottom of the stairs with the books until she reached him, happy to watch her walk down the stairs. He gave credit where credit was due. When she stopped in front of him, though, he didn't hand the books back.
"I'm not sure I should give these back then. I don't think they're safe with you."

"What do you think I'll do? Throw them in the lake?"
She gave a soft laugh. Flirting was second nature, something she couldn't help. He was rather cute. And talking to her, playing with her. Men were fun. She liked them. Quite a lot. No, she wasn't a slut. She didn't just run around and hop into bed with any man she met. She was rather specific. She hopped into bed with men she liked. Thought were cute.

He looked down at the books in his arms and then back up to her. The look on his face was playful, 'not sure' he quite trusted her with these books anymore.
As for flirting? Brin could say he was a flirt. He saw a cute guy or girl and he just couldn't help it. He could be distracted, though, usually by school. It really was his top priority. Was that all his life was? Distractions? It seemed like it most days.

She waited a bit before sighing dramatically.
"What do I have to do to get my books back? I've got to return them to the library."
No, she didn't particularly want to take her books and go. She rather hoped he drew their meeting out. If he didn't she'd have to find a way to.

What did she have to do? Well, that could be anything. He held all of the cards now. He glanced down at the books again and back up to the pretty girl in front of her.
"Well," he started, "It's gonna take some time. First you have to buy me lunch."
He thought about it for a moment and nodded, "Yes, lunch first. Then we'll talk."
He would wait.

"Buy you lunch?"
She laughed, a little surprised, but she complied.
"Alright. First lunch. Then we talk. Hopefully about the safe return of my books."
She shook her head a bit, still chuckling.
"So were am I buying your lunch?"

He threw her a charming grin, adjusting the books in his arms a bit. He rolled his eyes.
"Somewhere expensive of course."

"You assume, of course, that I have money. I'll take that as a compliment."
It was a very charming grin. And she was indeed charmed.

He shrugged a bit.
"Or maybe I just have expensive tastes?"
He sighed, very, very heavily.
"Fine. I was just going to grab some food at a pub in town but I guess you can come too."

"Either way I'm taking it as a compliment."
She chuckled a bit more.
"I thought I was paying. I think that means I have to go."
